Rent a telescope

La Palma is by rights famous for it's night sky. That is why the big, international observatory was built on top of the mountain. You can also enjoy this famous night sky during your stay on La Palma, renting a telescope from us, to use on the terrace of your house, or from above the clouds on the mountain. You might be experienced amateur astronomer, or perhaps you do know nothing about astronomy but are curious and want to know what all that noise is about.

All our telescopes are supplied with an accumulator power supply, at least three 1.25" eyepieces/amplifications, moon filter and, except for the 4 inch telescope, a UHC narrow band filter for nebulae studies.

For the beginner
If you do not now anything about amateur astronomy the Celestron 4 inch refractor or  6 inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope is ideal for you. The 4" is god for looking at the moon, the planets and some of the brighter Deep Sky Objects. With the 6" you are able to see many more Deep Space Objects like nebulae, galaxies and star clusters. It also gives a better view of  the moon and planets and is in general a better telescope. For the weeks around new moon, when you have dark nights, I would strongly recommend you to chose the 6".

Both telescopes are extremely simple to set up and use. Just mount the tripod with the telescope, enter time and date into the computer and point the telescope at three bright stars,  the computer will then do the rest for you. You don´t even have to know what stars you are pointing at.  You carry the hole telescope indoors to store during the day, no need to dismount it. They are also easy to put into the car and drive to a nice, dark spot above the clouds if you would like to do so.

We supply you with a star map, a book on observing with a small telescope, a
a red flashlight so that you can read your notes without disturbing your night adapted eyes, a table over moon rise and set and an updated list of interesting objects to be seen at the actual time. We also show you how to use the telescope.

We can also supply a MGEN Autoguider wich can be used with the Losmandy GM8, the best mounting for photographic work.
